Chris Pratt Thanks Jesus in First Appearance Since Anna Faris Split (Video)

He won the Choice Sci-Fi Movie Actor award at the Teen Choice Awards Sunday night

Chris Pratt made his first public appearance since announcing his separation from Anna Faris Sunday at the Teen Choice Awards.

The “Jurassic World” star took the stage to accept the Choice Sci-Fi Movie Actor award for his role in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.” In his speech, he cracked a few jokes and thanked a seminal force in his life.

“I would not be here with the ease and grace I have in my heart without my lord and savior, Jesus Christ,” the actor said.

He also went on to thank writer and director James Gunn for bringing characters like Peter Quill to life, while teasing the “Guardians of the Galaxy’s” third installment.

And because this is the Teen Choice Awards, Pratt decided to give out some sagely advice to aspiring actors: lie.

“When I came to Los Angeles, I came from Hawaii and I had all of this blonde hair and I was tan and I met an agent because I really wanted to be an actor and get an agent and he said, ‘Wow. Bro, you must surf?’ And I said ‘Yeah,’ and that was the first of many lies I told to get where I am today,” he told the crowd.

Pratt and Faris took to Facebook a week ago to announce their separation after eight years of marriage.

“Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward,” the two wrote in a joint statement. “We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another.”
