Cindy Gardner to Replace Teri Everett as Universal Communications Boss

Gardner is a 20-year veteran of the studio who most recently served as SVP of Corporate Affairs

Cindy Gardner will replace Teri Everett as Universal’s head of communications, NBC Universal announced Wednesday.

Gardner will take on the role of EVP of Global Communications of Universal Filmed Entertainment Group and Corporate Affairs of NBC Universal. She will be responsible for all communications for the Film Group, including media relations, internal communications, and box office report.

Gardner will report to film group chairman Jeff Shell, and will continue to work with NBC Universal Vice Chairman Ron Meyer and the west coast Corporate Affairs team on NBC Universal initiatives, including community outreach and corporate social responsibility programs .

“Ron, Donna and I look forward to working with Cindy in this new role. She has proven time and again that she has excellent judgment, deep industry knowledge, and the right experience to guide us through the changing business landscape,” said Shell in a statement.  “She is a trusted advisor to me and continues to be an integral part of our senior team.”

“Cindy has been my right-hand through many transitions at the company and has always shown leadership, fortitude, and determination in whatever challenges we faced,” said Meyer. “Her in-depth knowledge of the company and the business makes her uniquely qualified for this new joint position.”

Gardner has been at NBC Universal for over 20 years, most recently as SVP of Corporate Affairs for Universal Studios. She will begin her new position later this month, while Teri Everett leaves NBC Universal after a year and a half with the company.
