"Black Swan," "The Fighter," "Inception," "The King's Speech" and "The Social Network."
That's your top five of 2010, Hollywood.
The American Cinema Editors singled out those five films when it announced the nominees for the ACE Eddie Awards on Friday, picking the same lineup that the Directors Guild chose at the beginning of the week and reinforcing that those films hold the top spots in this year's awards race.
Those were the nominees in the Best Edited Film (Dramatic) category; the ACE Eddie nominations also singled out films in the Comedy or Musical Film, Animated Film and Documentary categories.
Comedies included "The Kids Are All Right" along with "Alice in Wonderland," "Easy A," "Made in Dagenham" and "Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World." The animated and documentary categories also honored this year's usual suspects: "Toy Story 3," "How to Train Your Dragon" and "Despicable Me" in animated, "Exit Through the Gift Shop," "Inside Job" and "Waiting for 'Superman'" in docs.
The editing category is considered a crucial tipoff as to which films have the strength to win Best Picture at the Oscars. Last year's winner, "The Hurt Locker," went on to win the Oscar for Best Editing and Best Picture.
The ACE Eddie Awards will take place on February 19 in the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills.
