Cleveland Kidnapping Trio Publicly Speaks for First Time (Video)

Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight thank supporters and ask for continued privacy

The Cleveland kidnapping victims reached out on YouTube to thank everyone for their love and support on Monday.

It was the first time that the trio of Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight publicly broke their silence since returning home. They also used the platform to request respect for their privacy.

Police say the three young women and Berry's daughter were held captive in Ariel Castro's Cleveland home for a decade before they were finally rescued in May.

DeJesus and her family specifically thanked everybody who donated to the Cleveland Courage Fund. The fund raised more than $1 million, all of which will go to the three victims. The DeJesus family also spoke about the importance of relying on neighbors in times of crisis.

Berry said that being home with her family and friends has been "unbelievable." Knight focused on spreading a positive message of faith and dedicating her life to helping others.
