CNN Shakes Up Daytime Lineup: 'Around the World' Being Pulled, New 11 A.M. Anchors Announced

“Legal View with Ashleigh Banfield” will take noon slot currently filled by “Around the World”

CNN shook up its daytime schedule on Friday, removing the international series “Around the World” with Suzanne Malveaux and Michael Holmes and instituting a new anchor team for the 11 a.m. ET hour.

Beginning Feb. 10, “Early Start” anchor John Berman and “New Day” anchor Michaela Pereira will co-anchor CNN's 11 a.m. hour, with “Legal View With Ashleigh Banfield” shifting to noon ET, the timeslot currently occupied by “Around the World.”

“Around the World” co-host Suzanne Malveaux will shift to national correspondent for CNN, covering politics, breaking news and  international news. The move will allow Malveaux to return to Washington, D.C. to better care for her mother, whose struggle with ALS has been chronicled on CNN.

Malveaux's “Around the World” cohort, Michael Holmes, will return full time to CNN International.

    GET RID OF HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with Jim. Carol Costello has to go.

Around The World is a really good news show. Perhaps too smart for CNN.

Goodbye CNN, we've had a long relationship, but this is the last straw. Were it not for Suzanne and Michael we'd already be long gone. My condolences to those who will have to tolerate Ashleigh.

  • Jann

How many times can we hear the same US stories over & over everyday? Suzanne's show allowed us to see what is going on around the world. Very sad this show is gone.
And Christine Romans…how many times are you going to bring her back to ruin the early morning shows?
Time to find a new NEWS NETWORK!
Wolf needs to get a personality! He never smiles or changes expression.

  • Kaz

Your 11AM -12pm hr. sucks!!! Blitzer has no personality, otherwise his ok. I can handle the rest of your crew. Biggest blunder is taking Suzanne off. Whoever made that decision got to go.

Berman and Pereira stink! What is with all of these idiotic changes? I for one, find tag team opposites repugnant. The whole male and female partner idea blows. Pick one or the other. I don't care about their opinions, or how chatty they can be together. CNN is cable news network, not another freaking daytime talk show. Musical chairs does not make for better programming. This Zucker dumbass needs to go! Quit f'n wit my CNN! I'm ready to turn the channel forever. Go back to FOX, Zucker, and please take Erin Burnett and Newt G. Back with you. Leave Piers M. alone. The man does a good job. Just work on some better guest lineup. Too many of your FOX cronies trying to run him out of the country. He may have run a little long on guns issues, but trying to use platform to draw much needed attention, to US insanity. Even the founding Father's would be mortfied by today's senseless gun worshiping morons.

CNN stands for news, not fluff. Remember that, Mr. zucker!

    • Gary

AMEN on that I like Suzanne more than any of their current cast. Maybe they should just sell out to FOX NEWS they seem to want to be just like them.
