After @CWalken, the fake Christopher Walken, was banished from Twitter on Friday, Twitter gave him a chance to comply with their “impersonation policy.” It reads:

“Pretending to be another person or business as entertainment or in order to deceive is impersonation.  Non-parody impersonation is a violation of the TOS, specifically article 4 which states: You must not abuse, harass, threaten, impersonate or intimidate other Twitter users.”

Some Los Angeles Times staffers are upset about the front page ad that NBC ran in Thursday’s paper, which had the network’s logo on it, the word “advertisement” and a thick black border, but otherwise was laid out to look like a real newspaper story about the new cop drama “Southland.”

The L.A. Times has found yet another way to anger readers and reporters both. A four-page advertising section will be part of Calendar on Sunday, designed to resemble editorial, promoting the Paramount movie 'The Soloist.'

The Los Angeles Times' David Sarno has the strange story behind the @cnnbrk, CNN Twitter account that is nearing a million followers: CNN just acquired ownership of the account from 25-year-old London Web developer James Cox, who'd been running it since January 2007 with CNN's permission and oversight.

No one paying attention to the media was surprised that Portfolio magazine was shut down Monday by Conde Nast. The monthly business magazine was losing money.

As David Carey, Condé Nast’s group president and publishing director, told the New York Times, the five main categories of advertising that kept Portfolio afloat -- financial services, business-to-business, automotive, travel and luxury goods -- are all sinking at the moment.
