Harry Sloan is a Republican, but you wouldn’t know it from his remarks at TheWrap's media leadership conference, TheGrill, on Monday night.

The former Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer chief and the head of the media fund Global Eagle said not only can he live with higher taxes, but he's even told Republican politicians to stop fighting to keep the tax rates on the country’s wealthiest citizens low.

Content companies are about to see a rise in the value of content because Internet companies need what they sell, Terry Semel said at the opening of TheGrill conference on Monday. 

Semel, the former chairman of Warner Brothers and CEO of Yahoo, said that companies like Google, Apple, Netflix and others are realizing that they need what Hollywood creates to drive advertising revenue.

The Twitter effect never was.

The wrong kinds of movies are being made in 3D.

Closing the release window isn’t going to bring back the glory days of theatrical releases.

These are just a few examples of conventional wisdom that have little basis in reality, according to a new study of 24,000 moviegoers by research firm Ipsos OTX MediaCT released at TheGrill conference on Tuesday.

“In this business we spin ourselves into perceptions that aren’t real,” Vincent Bruzzese, president of the worldwide motion picture group, told TheWrap. “They echo through the hallways of this industry, but the facts don’t support the claims.”
