Comcast announced Thursday that is has combined its venture capital affiliate with the former venture capital affiliate of NBCUNiversal and General Electric to form the new Comcast Ventures, a joint portfolio valued at about $750 million.
The step is the latest in Comcast's taking majority interest in NBCU from GE. Comcast Ventures will invest in entertainment, communications and digital businesses.
Amy Banse, a 20-year Comcast veteran who previously served as president of Comcast Interactive Media, will relocate to San Francisco to serve as the managing director and head of funds.
Banse will report to Michael Angelakis, Chief Financial Officer at Comcast Corporation.
