‘Community’ Sneak Peek: Jeff and Shirley Have an ‘Epic’ Social Showdown (Exclusive Video)

As per usual, Dean Pelton’s big idea gets out of control on Thursday’s new episode of the NBC comedy

A social experiment goes awry on Thursday’s new episode of NBC’s “Community.”

Dean Pelton (Jim Rash) brings two designers to Greendale to beta test their new social networking application. But, what starts as a fun social interaction of ranking classmates turns into an all-out class war as Greendale students compete for the highest score.

“There is some form of artificial system that’s imposed on the school,” Joel McHale, who plays Jeff, told TheWrap when we were on-set for the episode’s taping, “and people have to deal with it in different ways and make themselves distinct from the different groups. And it’s pretty crazy. It’s turned into an epic episode.”

In TheWrap’s exclusive preview, Jeff fails to invite Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown) to a dinner he’s having and that may spark some animosity as the school goes into a social showdown.

“It has a lot to do with Jeff and Shirley but everyone else is involved,” McHale said.

As TheWrap first reported, “Arrested Development” creator Mitch Hurwitz guest stars on this episode as Preston Koogler, Greendale’s ultimate party animal.
