Of course, the negative clips are doctored — but the self-made montage still hurts the TBS talk show host's feelings
Conan O'Brien revealed Tuesday night that he will host April's MTV Movie Awards; the media reacted — or overreacted — in kind.
The TBS late night talk show compiled a montage of TV news reactions, some authentic reports of the awards show news, but mostly doctored clips from totally unrelated broadcasts.
The first few inclusions were authentic clips reporting O'Brien's involvement; the following bunch displayed people reacting positively, though clearly about different news stories; the remainder — and majority — of the compiled clips were wildly negative shorts of people discussing other, more serious, matters.
The faux negative reactions ranged from: “I'm a little bit skeptical,” all the way to, “He has no regard for human life.”
In between, the words “atrocious,” “horrific,” “appalled” and the phrase “a spectacularly bad idea” came up.
The MTV Movie Awards air on April 13.
