Connie Britton is joining Angela Bassett and Peter Krause in the cast of Ryan Murphy‘s upcoming Fox procedural, “9-1-1.”

The series, launching in 2018, is a procedural drama that focuses on police, paramedics and firefighters as they try to save lives in shocking and frightening situations. Details about the characters have yet to be released.

Tim Minear (“Feud,” “American Horror Story”) is onboard as executive producer and showrunner, and Bradley Buecker (“Glee,” “AHS”) is directing the series premiere and executive producing.

“9-1-1” hails from 20th Century Fox Television, in association with Ryan Murphy Television and Brad Falchuk Teley-Vision.

Murphy and Falchuk, who are behind FX’s anthology series “American Horror Story,” wrote and executive produce the pilot for “9-1-1.” They co-created “9-1-1” with Minear.

Britton, known for starring roles on “Nashville” and “Friday Night Lights,” previously worked with Murphy on “American Horror Story” and “The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story.”
