Corbis named Mark Owens its new chief revenue officer on Monday. The promotion was announced by CEO Gary Shenk.

The Bill Gates-owned company is best known for its collection of images, including the Bettmann Archive, Corbis Motion and Veer, but also has an expanding Entertainment Division which handles content, rights, public relations and talent business, including the recently launched Branded Entertainment Network.

“As Corbis continues to evolve from a licensed images company to a content and media solutions company for the digital era, we are pleased to have appointed Mark Owens as chief revenue officer for all of Corbis,” Shenk said. “Since joining the team through the Norm Marshall acquisition where he served as global president, Mark has demonstrated the core values of Corbis: accountability, teamwork and creativity.

“He has successfully doubled the Entertainment team business over the past three years, was responsible for the creation and launch of Branded Entertainment Network, BEN (the first ad network for Global Brand Integration), and spearheaded the acquisition of WSM Communications, a sports consultancy housed within the Entertainment team,” Shenk continued.

“Building on the 25 year legacy of partnering iconic images with publishers, brands and agency clients, I am excited to steer Corbis towards the digital media and content world with the additive resources of offering celebrity/talent partnerships, brand integration and rights representation to our global clients under one unified Corbis umbrella,” stated Owens.

“Our customers look for a global solution for their entertainment and content needs and with central offices in New York, Los Angeles and London — the global media, publishing and agency centers of the world — and proprietary solutions like BEN, we are uniquely qualified to help our customers programs stand out and engage their consumers.”

Mark Owens’ new role will have him overseeing several notable clients, including Heineken, General Motors, Microsoft, and Hallmark.
