“Bridge of Spies,” “Crimson Peak,” “The Danish Girl,” “The Revenant” and “Trumbo” have been nominated for excellence in production design by the Art Directors Guild in the Period Film Category, the ADG Awards category that usually produces most of the Oscar nominees for Best Production Design.
In the Fantasy Film category, nominees were “Cinderella,” “Jurassic World,” “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and “Tomorrowland.”
The Contemporary Film category contains “Ex Machina,” “Joy,” “The Martian,” “Sicario” and “Spectre.”
Since 2000, more than 80 percent of the Oscar nominees for film editing have first received Eddie nominations, with all but four of the 16 winners taking home the ACE/Eddie before the Oscar.
Last year’s Oscar winner, “Whiplash,” was one of those four, losing the ACE/Eddie to “Boyhood.”
Most years, the Oscar nominees are drawn predominantly from the ACE/Eddies’ Drama category.
In the ADG’s television categories, the One-Hour Period or Fantasy Single-Camera Series field includes episodes of “Downton Abbey,” “Game of Thrones,” “Gotham,” “The Knick” and “Mad Men,” while the contemporary category is made up of “Better Call Saul,” “Empire,” “Homeland,” “House of Cards” and “True Detective.”
Half-hour series nominees include “The Last Man on Earth,” “The Muppets,” “Silicon Valley,” “Transparent” and “Veep” in the single-camera category, and “2 Broke Girls,” “The Big Bang Theory,” “Clipped,” “Mom” and “Truth Be Told” in the multi-camera category.
The awards will be presented on Jan. 31 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
