Critics’ Choice Movie Awards Set for Oscar Nomination Night

Broadcast Film Critics Association signs new TV deal with the CW, guarantees a long awards day by scheduling Critics' Choice Movie Awards on Jan. 10

The Broadcast Film Critics Association has made sure that Jan. 10 will be one of the longest days on the awards calendar, scheduling the 18th annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards to take place in the evening of the day that Oscar nominations will be announced.

The BFCA also announced that the CW Television Network will broadcast the show for the first time, ending the show's multi-year relationship with VH1. The ceremony will take place at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, CA, and will air from 8 to 10 p.m. ET that night. Oscar nominations will be revealed at 5:38 a.m. PT that morning.

The Academy's recent decision to move its nominations announcement from Jan. 15 to Jan. 10 has placed it at the beginning of a busy awards weekend, which will also include the Golden Globes on Jan. 13.

More than 270 television, radio and online critics vote for the CCMA, which typically line up fairly closely with the Oscars. The BFCA is the largest critics' organization in North America

The CCMA will be produced by Bob Bain Productions and Berlin Entertainment. 

Critics' Choice Movie Award nominations will be announced on Dec. 11. Other key dates:

Dec. 3, 2012 – Nominating ballots sent to BFCA members
Dec. 9 – Deadline for returning nominating ballots
Dec. 11 – Nominees announced
Jan. 7, 2013 – Final ballots sent to BFCA members
Jan. 8 – Deadline for returning final ballots
Jan. 10 – Winners revealed during live telecast on The CW.
