Sunday night’s Critics’ Choice TV Awards on A&E attracted 522,000 total viewers in the show’s first year on the cable channel.

An encore showing immediately following the live, two-hour telecast added 315,000 more — if one elects to count those eyeballs towards a sum.

Last year, on The CW, the Critics’ Choice TV Awards pulled in one million total viewers. Obviously, the show’s crowd was cut nearly in half year-over-year, but it wouldn’t be fair to compare a broadcast network’s reach to that of a cable channel.

Prior to The CW’s one-off telecast, the Critics’ Choice TV Awards appeared once on Reelz. In 2011, on that channel, the show received just 84,000 total viewers. Those are the only times that the celebration has aired on television.

While the TV awards have only been available in living rooms for a handful of years, the film version has run on television for about a decade-and-a-half.
