Crypt Above Star’s Plot Sells on e-Bay for $4.6 Million

The bidding started at $500,000 and escalated to $1 million two days later.

People are still obsessed with Marilyn Monroe.

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that the crypt above where she was entombed sold Monday on eBay for $4,602,100.

Elsie Poncher’s husband, Richard, is buried in the crypt at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park.

Ms. Poncher said she wanted to sell it to pay off the mortgage on her Beverly Hills home.

The bidding started at $500,000 on Aug. 14 and escalated to $1 million two days later. There were 21 bids.

"Here is a once in a lifetime and into eternity opportunity to spend your eternal days directly above Marilyn Monroe," the eBay auction description stated.

Poncher was buried face down — looking at Monroe — when he died 23 years ago at age 81, the posting says.
