Helen Mirren will reprise her Oscar-winning role in a new play by Peter Morgan
Helen Mirren will reign again, reprising her Oscar-winning role as Queen Elizabeth II in a new play by Peter Morgan.
"The Audience" will focus on the monarch's relationship with the 12 prime ministers who served during her reign. The play's title is derived from the private weekly discussions held between the queen and the heads of government that have taken place over the past six decades, according to The Telegraph.
"The Audience" will begin performances at the Gielguld Theatre in London's West End on Feb. 15, 2013.
Morgan and Mirren previously teamed up for the 2006 film "The Queen," resulting in a cavalcade of awards and general critical swooning. Mirren has more than few regal roles on her resume, having previously played the other Queen Elizabeth in the 2005 TV mini-series "Elizabeth I."
The actress is currently reprising her assassin role in "Red 2" with Bruce Willis. She will next be seen in "Hitchcock," playing the wife of the legendary "Psycho" director.
