Donald Glover, Evan Peters Join Lionsgate's 'Reawakening' (Exclusive)

"Community" star Donald Glover and "X-Men: Days of Future Past" actor Evan Peters have joined the cast of Lionsgate's horror thriller "Reawakening," TheWrap has learned.

They join Mark Duplass and Olivia Wilde in the movie, which Jason Blum is producing through his Blumhouse banner along with Mosaic Media Group.

David Gelb ("Jiro Dreams of Sushi") is directing from a script written by Jeremy Slater ("Fantastic Four") and Luke Dawson ("Shutter"), who is executive producing with Matt Kaplan.

'The Purge' Sequel Being Developed By Universal and Blumhouse

Universal Pictures and Jason Blum's Blumhouse banner are developing a sequel to "The Purge," TheWrap has learned.

Written and directed by James DeMonaco, "The Purge" grossed $36 million this past weekend on a budget of only $3 million, making a sequel even more appealing.

However, "The Purge" currently has a 41% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while reviews from top critics are only 21% fresh.

The horror-thriller stars Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey as parents whose heavily-fortified home is broken into by a group of wealthy young people participating in an annual 12-hour-long ritual during which time all crime is legal, including murder. 

The film is contained to one suburban neighborhood, so a sequel could explore the mayhem on a larger scale.

Kevin Hart and Josh Gad are set to star in an untitled comedy that Jeremy Garelick will direct for Screen Gems and Miramax.

Hart will play Jimmy, who provides best man services for socially-challenged grooms who, for whatever reason, have no close friends willing to stand by them on the day of their wedding.

Gad will play Doug, a groom-to-be who fabricates not just his best man, but his nine groomsmen as well. Together they must carry out a charade that is designed to make Doug look his best but threatens to destroy everything if it fails.

Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara are attached to star in the buddy comedy "Don't Mess With Texas," which Universal Pictures has just acquired following a bidding war.

John Quaintance and David Feeney wrote the script on spec.

The female leads will put a new spin on the familiar story of a cop and a prisoner on the run from crooked cops, this time in Texas.

Witherspoon and Bruna Papandrea will produce through their Pacific Standard banner along with Dana Fox, who previously worked with  Quaintance and Feeney on the Fox series "Ben and Kate."

Production is scheduled to start in March 2014.
