Looks like “Curb Your Enthusiasm” might have to get started without Larry David.

HBO released a video Friday announcing that Season 9 of the series had begun shooting, and despite the five-year gap between seasons, it seems that David still isn’t ready for his close-up.

Luckily, the comedic talents of J.B. Smoove are on full display in the video, as Smoove reveals that his character Leon Black is returning, and attempts to draw David out of his trailer.

“Get your ass out, Larry, come on!” Smoove demands, while banging on David’s trailer door. “Larry, bring your ass outside! Come on, Larry!”

In a final bid to draw the series creator out of hiding, Smoove issues an ultimatum.

“Hey Larry, if you don’t come outside, I’m gonna do this whole season by myself!” Smoove declares. “And don’t think I can’t do it!”

And still … crickets from the show’s creator.

In addition to Smoove and — probably, eventually — David, the new season of “Curb” will also bring the return of Ted Danson and his wife Mary Steenburgen to the series, along with Jeff Garlin (who currently stars on ABC’s “The Goldbergs”), Cheryl Hines and Susie Essman.

Watch David’s big no-show in the video.
