CW’s McGuire Gets No. 2 Publicity Job at Warner Bros.

As senior VP of worldwide corp-comm, he’ll report to Susan Fleishman

Warner Bros. has hired top CW publicity man Paul McGuire to serve as senior VP of worldwide corporate communications, covering the entire Warner Bros. Entertainment umbrella while serving under executive VP Susan Fleishman, the studio announced Thursday.

McGuire will continue to serve an advisory role to The CW Network, which is co-owned by Warner.

In his new role, McGuire will assume some of the duties previously handled by Scott Rowe, just named senior VP, worldwide communications, Warner Bros. Television Group.

“Paul is a highly regarded, innovative communicator and strategist,” Fleishman said. “He’s been a part of the Warner family for a decade and has proven himself to be a leader whose vision and excellent relationships with the media are invaluable to our company. I couldn’t be more pleased to have Paul as a top member of my team.”

McGuire served as senior VP of media relations for UPN when, in 2006, that network and the WB were scuttled, and The CW was formed as a cooperative venture between Time Warner and CBS.

Joining The CW at that time, McGuire most recently was executive VP of media relations for the network.

No successor was named for McGuire at The CW, but it appears likely to be Paul Hewitt, vice president of network communications at the network and No. 2 in the communications department under McGuire.
