Watch Dan Harmon’s Adult Swim Series ‘Rick and Morty’ Early (Video)

The collaboration between the “Community” creator and Justin Roiland officially premieres on Monday

Adult Swim has released the pilot episode for “Community” creator Dan Harmon and Channel 101’s “House of Cosbys” creator Justin Roiland’s new animated series, “Rick and Morty,” online ahead of its Monday television premiere.

The half-hour series follows kooky genius Rick Sanchez (voiced by Roiland) who has enlisted his grandson, Morty (also voiced by Roiland), on his wacky adventures through time and space. Morty generally has to bear the brunt of the ill affects of such adventures on his academics and his relationships with his family.

Sarah Chalke and Chris Parnell also lend their voices to the series. Picked up for 10 episodes, “Rick and Morty” is produced by Harmon’s Starburns Industries.

At July’s Television Critics Association press tour, Harmon discussed the differences between working with Adult Swim and NBC.

“[Adult Swim’s executive vice president] Michael Lazzo is a bona fide genius,” Harmon said. “He has the autonomy and the humility to critique a script as an individual. He never says, ‘I don’t think people are going to like this.’ He never speculates about the masses, this opiate. And he never confuses the script for the finished product.”

“On the NBC side, it’s even better, next question,” he said, clearly using restraint.
