David Hasselhoff Reality Show Finally a Go at A&E

After months of leaks and tweets, the network finally confirms plans a show for The Hoff (and his daughters).

Rumored. Tweeted about. Now, it’s official: The Hoff is headed to A&E.

The network Wednesday confirmed months of media reports about David Hasselhoff’s reality project, saying it had ordered 10 episodes of the as-yet untitled series and that FremantleMedia North America ("American Idol") will produce. FMNA is also behind "America’s Got Talent," the NBC competition which Hasselhoff recently said he was leaving.

Here are highlights of the release from A&E:

New York, NY — January 20, 2010  — A&E ordered ten half-hour episodes of an untitled David Hasselhoff real-life docu- series from FremantleMedia North America, it was announced today by Robert Sharenow, Senior Vice President, Non-Fiction & Alternative Programming, A&E Network. The series, slated for 2010, will take a behind-the-scenes look into the life of "The Hoff" focusing on his multiple entertainment and business endeavors, as well as his most important role as a single dad trying to help his teenage daughters break into the recording industry.

Listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as "The Most Watched TV Star in the World," David Hasselhoff has been on television for more than 30 years. Whether you know him from "Knight Rider," "Baywatch" or "America’s Got Talent," there is no disputing the iconic status of The Hoff. In between stints on TV, starring roles on Broadway, live performances and business ventures that have taken him worldwide, he is also a single dad, raising two teenage daughters, Taylor-Ann, 19, and Hayley, 17. Hayley, an aspiring actress, is the top model for the fashion line Torrid through her contract with Ford Models and Taylor-Ann is a communications major at theUniversity of Arizona. Being a singer has been a dream for both girls.

"It’s the dream of every parent to be able to help their children succeed," said Hasselhoff. "I told the girls that I would help them open the door when they are ready, but they would have to walk through it on their own. This is their time and I am excited to be a part of it by partnering with A&E and FremantleMedia on this new series."

The series will follow David as he steps in and out of the limelight, assumes the role of ultimate stage dad for his daughters as he tries to utilize his connections in order to help them break into the recording industry, and we’ll find out ultimately who is running the show in The Hoff household.

The Untitled David Hasselhoff Project is produced by FremantleMedia North America for A&E Network. George Moll is executive producer, Jason Sands is co-executive producer and Jennifer Mullin is executive in charge for FremantleMedia North America. Robert Sharenow, Neil A. Cohen and Michael Morrison will serve as executive producers for A&E.
