David Letterman’s Production Company Snags ‘The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving’

Worldwide Pants has secured the rights to "The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving"

David Letterman's production company Worldwide Pants has snagged the feature film rights to Jonathan Evison's "The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving."

Worldwide Pants President and CEO Rob Burnett will adapt the book for the screen and is planning to direct the picture. He is executive producer on "Late Show With David Letterman" and previously directed "We Made This Movie."

“The Revised Fundamentals" centers on a man who takes a course in caregiving after he loses his family and his job. After he begins tending to a teen patient, he recognizes his training was inadequate to the challenge and the two ditch the sick room for a road trip across America.

Worldwide Pants has largely consigned itself to producing television programs like "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" and "Everybody Loves Raymond," but it has previously backed films including the big screen version of "Strangers with Candy."

Burnett's partner Jon Beckerman helped secure the rights through B&B Productions, a subsidiary of Worldwide Pants. The film rights were negotiated by CAA for Burnett/B&B Productions with CAA and Foundry Literary & Media on behalf of Evison.
