Filmmaker David Lynch will premiere his 121-part documentary series "Interview Project" on his website, on June 1. Each one of the episodes has a 3-5 minute interview with a different subject from around the country. New episodes premiere every three days over one year.
Lynch’s aim was to capture a portrait of every day Americans, and he sent a team of filmmakers across the U.S. to film brief interviews with the people they met in bars, in front of their homes, along the highway and in other ordinary places.
"We found the people driving along the roads, going into bars, going into different locations," Lynch has said. "[It’s] a chance to meet these people. It’s something that’s human and you can’t stay away from it."
The crew had an outline of basic questions to ask each interview subject, which gave the project structure while still allowing for their character to shine through. Lynch introduces each episode.

Lynch’s last major film was 2006’s "Inland Empire." Aside from the "Interview Project," he’s been mostly involved in projects other than movies — especially Transcendental Meditation. In 2005, he launched the David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and Peace to help finance scholarships for students interested in learning the technique.
His plan is to establish a $7 billion, seven-building center where people can practise meditation techniques. A concert to benefit his foundation at Radio City Music Hall in April featured the reunion of Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, along with Sheryl Crow, Eddie Vedder, Moby, Bettye LaVette, Ben Harper and the Beach Boys’ Mike Love.
