‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ Trailer: Gary Oldman Rallies Humans, Caesar Attacks (Video)

20th Century Fox is releasing the next installment of its “Planet of the Apes” reboot on July 11

Gary Oldman appears to be rallying his human troops in the first trailer for “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” which ends with a menacing Caesar rallying his own.

The sequel to 2011 hit “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” takes place a decade after James Franco‘s character created super monkey Caesar (Andy Serkis), as well as a virus that wiped out most of humanity.

Director Matt Reeves’ considerably darker addition to the franchise follows a band of survivors — including Oldman, Jason Clarke and Keri Russell — who threaten primate rule. The two species reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

So, anyone want to place a bet on mankind?

Didn’t think so.
