Days Before Jail, Lohan Goes to Rehab

Takes advice from her new lawyer, O.J. attorney Robert Shapiro; unknown is whether it will keep her out of the slammer

Just days before she was supposed to start a 90-day jail sentence, Lindsay Lohan has gone rehab.

Undoubtedly taking the advice of her new lawyer, O.J. Simpson attorney Robert Shapiro, the troubled actress has moved into Pickford Lofts, a West Hollywood sober living center started by Shapiro after the death of his own son from drugs in 2005.

A person close to the case confirmed to TheWrap that Lohan, accompanied by her mother and her sister Ali, entered the center late Wednesday afternoon and is still there. How long she will remain is unknown at this point.

Lohan’s inconsistent attendance at Right On, a court-ordered alcohol education program, was one of the primary reason behind Judge Marsha Revel’s almost-three-month jail sentence. The actress, who has been in and out of treatment programs over the years, has been court ordered to enter a rehab in-patient program within two days of getting out of jail.

Attempts by TheWrap to reach both Shapiro and the Lohans were not immediately returned. “As Michael Lohan and I have begged her to do for months,” Lisa Bloom, the lawyer for Lindsay’s father wrote on her Twitter account, Thursday morning, “Lindsay has gone to rehab.”

Whether this latest move is intended to keep Lindsay out of jail as well as deal with her various substance abuse issues, Lohan is still expected to surrender to authorities in Beverly Hills on July 20 to start her sentence at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California.

Lohan would likely only serve about 22 days behind bars because of prison overcrowding and the non-violent nature of her crime.
