‘Deadliest Catch’ Captain’s Son in Jail After DUI

Jake Harris, who appears on Discovery’s "Deadliest Catch" and is the son of that show’s recently deceased star, Captain Phil Harris, was arrested on drunk driving charges after crashing his car late Thursday night.

Phil Harris died Feb. 9 after suffering a stroke in January. He was 53.

According to TMZ.com, 24-year-old Jake Harris was jailed in Seattle on $1,500 bail. Police said he got into an accident while intoxicated.

TMZ.com said the younger Harris was charged with hit-and-run, driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license.

Jake Harris is a deckhand on the fishing vessel Cornelia Marie, which was captained by his father. He reportedly has been struggling with his grief over the death of his father.

On Saturday, Discovery Channel plans to paying tribute to Capt. Harris with a "Deadliest Catch" marathon from noon to 3 a.m. ET/PT.

Capt. Harris and his crew also will be part of "Deadliest Catch’s" sixth season. Debuting in April, the shows will feature material shot in the weeks mmediately before his stroike and his death.
