Deadspin had three choice words for Donald Trump when he praised the site's Manti Te'o scoop.
"Go fuck yourself," it tweeted back.
Spurned, The Donald unleashed a tirade of tweets, slamming the Deadspin editors for being pale nerds who let the rest of the news media profit off posts related to their investigation.
Because Gawker Media, Deadspin's parent company, does not run its own ad network, it was unable to capitalize on the traffic spike, Advertising Age reported. The company can only sell more ads against a post bursting with readers if it is already oversold.
"@Deadspin guys are total losers—they had their story stolen right from under their bad complexions—other media capitalized!" Trump wrote. "Dummies @Deadspin had their big payday taken from them by others in the media."
Not one to hide his true feelings, Trump let them know he took their snub personally. He also referenced the exit of managing editor Tom Scocca, who will become the deputy editor of Gawker.
"@Deadspin will never make it—they don’t understand graciousness or money—and best guy is leaving?" he said. "@Deadspin’s disgusting response will teach me & others not to be nice anymore—a sad lesson."
As Deadspin noted, Trump tweeted congratulations to Scocca and reporter Timothy Burke, failing to acknowledge reporter Jack Dickey.
