Channing Tatum Could Team With Jonah Hill in '21 Jump Street’

The “G.I. Joe” actor is expecting an imminent offer to star in the Sony movie

It looks like Jonah Hill has found a partner in (anything but) crime, as Channing Tatum will soon be offered a lead role opposite the actor in Sony's big-screen adaptation of "21 Jump Street," an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap.

The late '80s series created by Stephen J. Cannell helped launch the career of Johnny Depp, who played one of several undercover cops who use their youthful looks to infiltrate schools and fight crime.

As a fan of Tatum's work, I look forward to seeing him take on more comedic material, especially if his chemistry with Hill is as strong as it is said to be.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller ("Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs") are directing "21 Jump Street," which Michael Bacall ("Scott Pilgrim vs. the World") wrote based on a story he and Hill came up with.

Tatum will soon be seen wooing Kevin James' onscreen wife Winona Ryder in Ron Howard's infidelity comedy "The Dilemma," which Universal will release on Jan. 14. He next stars as a Roman soldier in Kevin MacDonald's "The Eagle," which Focus will distribute on Feb. 25.

Tatum is represented by UTA and his potential involvement with "21 Jump Street" was first reported by Deadline.
