DGA Nominates Bigelow, Cameron, Tarantino, Reitman, Daniels

No surprises in the Directors Guild list of top film nominees

Kathryn Bigelow,  James Cameron, Lee Daniels, Jason Reitman and Quentin Tarantino have received nominations for the Directors Guild Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement for Feature Film in 2009.

The nominations were announced Thursday morning by DGA president Taylor Hackford.  The five films represented by those directors — "The Hurt Locker," "Avatar," "Precious," "Up in the Air" and "Inglourious Basterds" — are all considered Oscar front-runners, and the directors were all favorites to receive DGA nominations.

Directors overlooked by the DGA include Clint Eastwood ("Invictus") Lone Scherfig ("An Education") and Neill Blomkamp ("District 9").

The DGA lineup usually corresponds closely to the Academy's best-director nominees, and the winners at the two ceremonies have matched all but six times since 1948.
