Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall are taking their production company back to an old friend – Steven Spielberg. The Wrap has confirmed that the pact between Kennedy/Marshall and Sony has ended, and that the powerful duo is in negotiations with DreamWorks for a first-look deal.

Though the deal has not been completed, a DreamWorks spokesperson said, “It’s happening.”

The husband and wife duo leaves Sony without too much to show for their deal there. Though some projects remain in development, no production ever got underway.

If and when Kennedy and Marshall wrap up the deal with DreamWorks, it will further cement their professional relationship with Spielberg, with whom they have worked since the early 1980s when they collaborated on hits like “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and “E.T.”

The trio has continued to make movies, including two due out this holiday season -- “The Adventures of Tintin” and “War Horse.”

The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news.
