Last night's "American Idol" season 11 finale produced not only a new champ -- Georgia crooner Phillip Phillips -- but the show's first engaged couple: Ace Young and Diana DeGarmo got engaged on the "Idol" stage.

Phillips, the fifth consecutive male "Idol" winner, was the favorite going into the finale, after managing to stay out of the bottom three the whole season.

Phillips, who got the majority of the 132 million votes cast in his finale showdown with runner-up Jessica Sanchez, suffered health problems throughout the competition, including a serious kidney problem that will necessitate surgery before he embarks on the annual "American Idol"...

Transformers, Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake, The Smurfs, The Muppets … if all those '80s favorites can forge comebacks, why not ALF? That's the hope of ALF -- the character and the TV show -- creator Paul Fusco, who is about to pitch an ALF comeback for the big screen.

"I think the timing is right," Fusco told The Hollywood Reporter. "That's a big important thing, timing. There have been movies out there of characters that I didn't think were on the same parallel as ALF that got movies made, so I think it's time. I think it could be a home run on a lot of levels."...

The series finale of Fox's "House" made big gains in ratings and total viewership as "America's Got Talent" dropped from last week's season premiere but still helped NBC win the night Monday, according to preliminary numbers.

NBC took first place in ratings with an average 2.6/7 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and third place in total viewership with an average 7.2 million. "America's Got Talent" at 8 p.m., which last week premiered with new host Howard Stern, dropped 16 percent in the demo but was still the top-rated show with a 3.1/9. It drew 9.5 million total viewers. "American Ninja Warrior" the following hour posted a 2.4/6...
