Jimmy Kimmel got the ball rolling Saturday night by listing movie titles: "Little Darlings." "My Bodyguard." "Drugstore Cowboy." "Crash." No, the American Cinematheque wasn't honoring Matt Dillon; the talk show host was just having fun at the true honoree's expense.
The Cinematheque gave its 24th annual midcareer honor to Matt Damon.
The 39-year-old star of the "Bourne" films, "The Departed" and "The Informant" was the target of wisecracks about his talent and jibes at his youth, all delivered with warmth and taken with good humor by Damon.
Also presented was the Sydney Pollack Award, to Telluride Film Festival co-founder Tom Luddy.
ABC will televise the show at a date to be announced.
