Seth MacFarlane’s ‘A Million Ways to Die in the West’ Trailer Has Death and Blood Aplenty (Video)

There’s death by fire, too

Whether at the hands of a gunslinger, or the cold weight of a giant block of ice, people just  keep dying, and dying, and dying in the first trailer In Seth MacFarlane‘s “A Million Ways to Die in the West.”

Fortunately for fans of MacFarlane’s brand of humor, the trailer (above) is a red band, which means there’s lots of cursing on top of the bloody cartoon violence used to elicit chuckles from viewers.

The R-rated comedic Western takes place in Arizona circa 1882 — a terrible place to be at that time, according to MacFarlane’s character.

“The American West is a terrible place in time. Everything out here that’s not you wants to kill you,” MacFarlane explains. “Angry drunk people, hungry animals, outlaws, the f–king doctor!”

MacFarlane plays a cowardly farmer who seeks the help of a gunslinger’s wife (Charlize Theron) to help him win back his love (Amanda Seyfried) who left him for another man (Neil Patrick Harris). The plan of action? Challenge the most danger outlaw in town (Liam Neeson) to a gun fight.

We’ll get to see how that turns out for him when Universal releases the comedy in theaters on May 30.
