It’s probably best not to cross Sigourney Weaver, if the new and final “The Defenders” trailer is any indication.
Weaver plays Alexandra, who’s the kind of villain who says she wants to bring life but, according to Luke Cage, sure does kill a lot of people.
The final trailer, released Thursday before the entire show drops on Friday, puts the spotlight on Alexandra as she tries to bring the members of the Defenders down.
She notices that the four heroes — Luke Cage (Mike Colter), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) — have formed a bond, but she promises that it’s temporary.
“The more connections you have, the easier it will be to break you,” she tells them in voiceover as we get a glimpse of many of the Netflix Marvelverse’s supporting players, including Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll).
We also get a small glimpse into her motivations and her plans for the series. She wants New York (and other cities) to crumble; she wants to “bring life where there is death;” and to “bring light into the dark.”
