"Dexter"'s fifth season finale Sunday garnered 2.5 million to rival the ratings for the show's highly praised, must-see season four final episode, in which John Lithgow's Trinity Killer won a hollow victory over Dexter Morgan.
The "Showtime" series about a Miami blood-spatter expert who moonlights as a serial killer managed to stay strong in its fifth season, which wrapped Sunday, even after an insanely watchable and much-praised fourth season.
The show had it's second-highest ratings ever on Nov. 28, delivering 2.54 million viewers. It was only slightly behind the Season 4 finale, which netted 2.57 million.
The show has already been picked up for a sixth season.
