Discovery Channel Taps Denise Contis as Production and Development EVP

Contis replaces Nancy Daniels, who’s been promoted to general manager of TLC

Discovery Channel has promoted Denise Contis to executive vice president, production and development, Discovery & TLC group president Eileen O’Neill said  Thursday.

Contis, who previously served a senior vice president, production and development, is replacing Nancy Daniels, who’s been promoted to general manager of TLC. Contis will assume her new position Monday.

In her previous position, Contis, who joined Discovery Communications in 2008, oversaw the execution of Discovery Channel’s programming, including the popular special “Skywire Live With Nik Wallenda” and the new series “Naked and Afraid.”

“Denise is a perfect fit for this position,” said O’Neill.  “Having worked on both Discovery and TLC, she’s a television executive who gets what both men and women of all ages want to see. Her track record of bringing quality programming to the Discovery family speaks for itself.”
