Cannes 2014: The film is set in a post-apocalyptic world devastated by a virus
Djimon Hounsou and Alexis Knapp will star in “One,” an action adventure film to be directed by “2.37” filmmaker Murali Thalluri. Main Street Films is co-producing and co-financing the movie with MK Create's Thalluri and the Kojo Group.
This will be the first movie produced under a South African and Australian co-production treaty singed in 2011. Production will take place in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
The film is set in a post-apocalyptic world devastated by a virus compelling different ethnic groups fight one another in search of a cure. Soldiers raid the house of Ava (Knapp) and sell her to a medical research facility. Doctors discover that Ava is immune to the virus and she becomes the world's great hope.
Hounsou has a busy production slate lined up. He already appeared in “Guardians of the Galaxy,” due out August 1, and “Seventh Son,” due out next year, and has a role in the next “Fast & Furious” movie as well. Knapp made a name for herself in “Pitch perfect” and will reprise her role as Stacie in the sequel, due out next year.
CAA represents both of them.
