BBC has started production on the eighth season of “Doctor Who,” with a return slated for later this year.

And in case you’re still in denial that Matt Smith has moved on, the series released a behind the scenes look at the 12th Doctor, Peter Capaldi, with returning star, Jenna Coleman, who plays companion Clara.

Too soon? Not for Capaldi.

“New job, first day, slightly nervous,” Capaldi said in a statement. “Just like the Doctor, I’m emerging from the TARDIS into a whole other world.”

Capaldi stepped into the role for the first time during last month’s annual Christmas episode. But, fans actually saw him – or at least his eyes – on the 50th Anniversary special.

“First the eyebrows! Then, at Christmas, the face! Coming soon, the whole Doctor,” showrunner Steven Moffat said. “In the Cardiff studios, the Capaldi era begins.”

Shooting is taking place in Cardiff, Wales through August, according to the BBC. Moffat wrote Episode 1 and Phil Ford (“The Sarah Jane Adventures”) wrote the second episode of the upcoming season. Ben Wheatley (“Ideal,” “Sightseers”) will direct both episodes.
