‘Doctor Who’ Gets Season Premiere Date – Watch the New Trailer (Video)

"Doctor Who" returns for more time-bending adventures Sept. 1

"Doctor Who" will land his Tardis for another season of time-bending adventures on BBC America at 9 p.m. Sept. 1, the network said Thursday.

The upcoming season, which again stars Matt Smith as the titular Doctor, promises a diverse grab-bag of adventures, as the Doctor and his cohorts Amy and Rory (aka, the Ponds) save a spaceship full of dinosaurs, explore the Wild West and grapple with an unexpected invasion of Earth (which is so much less convenient than an expected invasion of Earth).

The season will also see the departure of Amy and Rory, with "a race against time through the streets of Manhattan," BBC America said.

"We have, I think, our biggest range of stories ever," Stephen Moffat, lead writer and executive producer of the series, enthused. "We've got the return of the Daleks and the Weeping Angels — both of them poll-topping Doctor Who adversaries — in cracking new stories, we've got dinosaurs on a spaceship (it's what you've always wanted), we've got a glorious western with a cyborg gunslinger, the most unusual invasion Earth story ever, and location shooting in New York for the Pond finale.”

Prepare for the adventure with a new trailer for the season.
