Donald Sutherland in Talks for Chechen War Drama ‘Shoot the Breeze’ (Updated)

Donald Sutherland is in talks to join Chechen war movie 'Shoot the Breeze," with Raza Mallal directing from his own script

Donald Sutherland is in talks to join Russian actress Gia Skova in the action thriller “Shoot the Breeze," a representative for the film told TheWrap.

A spokewoman for Sutherland said the actor has been offered a role in the film, but has not yet signed on.

The story follows a renegade Moscow detective investigating the murder of a Chechen war reporter. Skova plays a friend of the reporter.

Filming is due to begin in the spring of 2013. U.K.-based Raza Mallal, an award-winning director and writer, is directing from his own script and executive producing with Kevin DeWallt producing.

Mallal reportedly has secured some major financing for the project, but could not be reached for comment.

Sutherland played the part of President Snow in “The Hunger Games” and has been cast in the sequel, “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.” His other recent credits include the TV series "Moby Dick” and the 2011 feature “Horrible Bosses.”
