Ricky Gervais on Donald Trump: ‘The World’s Gone Crazy’ (Video)

“He’s got more in common with David Brent, that character I play on ‘The Office,’ than JFK,” comedian tells Ellen DeGeneres

Ricky Gervais is no longer laughing when it comes to Donald Trump.

“It was fun to start with. I was very excited. It was funny,” Gervais said on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Friday. “And now it’s not a joke anymore, is it?”

“He’s got more in common with David Brent, that character I play on ‘The Office,’ than JFK,” he continued. “He’s an entertainer. He wants attention. And the things he says–see, this is what annoys me. Comedians say things as jokes and they get in trouble. He says terrible things and he means them and he gets a round of applause. The world’s gone crazy!”

Of course, DeGeneres couldn’t let Gervais go without a good scare, and had one of her staffers put on a Trump costume and pop up out of a fake table right next to her guest.
