But what will the GOP nominee do to kill the hours between 1 and 4 a.m.?

The king of mean tweets has been silenced by his own team — Donald Trump’s tweeting privileges have reportedly been rescinded by his campaign.

The New York Times became privy to the news while doing an in-depth story about the last days of the Trump campaign for president. The NYT learned that his aides “finally wrested away the Twitter account that he used to colorfully — and often counterproductively — savage his rivals.”

President Obama got word of the Trump/Twitter split while campaigning for Hillary Clinton in Florida, and couldn’t resist rubbing salt in the wound.

“I just read it, I can’t confirm that it’s true but, apparently his campaign has taken away his Twitter,” Obama told the crowd. “In the last two days, they had so little confidence in his self-control that they said, ‘We’re just going to take away your Twitter.’ Now, if somebody can’t handle a Twitter account, they can’t handle the nuclear codes.”

What took Trump’s team so long to restrict his Twitter use remains to be seen. He has engaged in an endless barrage of Twitter battles with political opponents, critics and celebrities over the years, including Rosie O’Donnell, Megyn Kelly, Ted Cruz, Hillary Clinton, Marco Rubio and former Miss Universe Alicia Machado to name a few. Some of his harshest comments come in the wee hours of the night.

The NYT reports that Trump still has some say-so in what is put out on social media. But now there’s a little editing that happens before someone else hits “tweet.”
