EXCLUSIVE

The defection of another top staffer at Variety left the newsroom reeling on Friday.

Film reporter Pamela McClintock is leaving the trade for the Hollywood Reporter, according to an individual with knowledge of the situation.

The news follows Thursday's news that veteran reporter Dana Harris was leaving Variety to serve as indieWIRE‘s new editor-in-chief.

Neither McClintock did not  immediately returned TheWrap's requests for comment. Neither did THR Editorial Director Janice Min.

Faced with declining ad revenue, Variety has lost several key staffers over the past year, either through lay-offs or poaching. Among those who have exited the embattled trade for rival publications are Mike Fleming (Deadline), Ben Fritz (the Los Angeles Times), Anne Thompson (Variety) and Todd McCarthy (the Hollywood Reporter).

Their film department has been particularly hard hit. The trade, which once cornered the market on casting news, has not fully recovered from Fleming's departure earlier this year.

Compounding issues, it now faces a rejuvenated Hollywood Reporter, which under the leadership of Min has shown a willingness to throw big money at good talent. Among the big names Min has landed are McCarthy and the Daily Beast's Kim Masters.
