Can you picture this, nostalgia-addled hipsters?
The crowd at the Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco received a felt-covered treat this weekend, as “The Muppet Show” house band Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem took the stage and showed the youngsters how it’s done.
Floyd Pepper, Animal, Janice and the rest of the gang took the stage and ripped through a 20-minute set, starting with their signature tune “Can You Picture That?” before doling out bruising renditions of “Home Is Wherever I’m With You,” “With a Little Help From My Friends” and other tunes.
A pretty impressive showing, even if we suspect that they might have been lip-syncing. We suspect that even Spinal Tap would’ve gladly ceded top billing to this spectacle.
Interspersed with the tunes were video snippets of the group exploring San Francisco, including sly nods to the gentrification that the City by the Bay has undergone since its ’60s heyday.
The festival also included performances from the likes of Radiohead, LCD Soundsystem, Lionel Richie, Duran Duran and Third Eye Blind.
