DirecTV executive Fazal Merchant is joining DreamWorks Animation as chief financial officer in September, the studio announced on Monday.
Merchant, senior vice president and CFO of DirecTV Latin America, replaces Lew Coleman, who was recently promoted to vice chairman in an effort to focus on global growth initiatives.

Merchant will officially start with DreamWorks on Sept. 15.
