‘DWTS’: Melissa Gilbert, ‘a Little Sedated,’ Misses Results Night After Minor Concussion

Sherri Shepherd goes home with inspirational speech

Melissa Gilbert missed Tuesday's "Dancing With the Stars" results show after suffering what she and host Tom Bergeron said was a minor concussion, and her partner said she was "a little sedated."

But the former "Little House on the Prairie" star was alert enough to tweet about Sheri Shepherd and partner Val Chmerkovskiy's elimination. Shepherd delivered a few words of inspiration as she left: "I want to say to every person out there: That thing that scares you the most, that makes you say ‘I don’t know if I can do it’…run toward it, because it’s so amazing."

Gilbert tweeted: "Truly stunned that @SherriEShepherd & @iamValC r eliminated. If they can go any of us is fair game! This makes my head hurt even more…”

She later added: "I just watched my tivo'd #DWTS and I'm weeping. @SherriEShepherd I will miss you so much.

Bergeron said Gilbert took the night off on her doctor's advice.

“She did suffer a mild concussion, on her doctor’s advice she’s taking a rest day," he said. “And if they get through tonight, she’ll be able to compete going forward."

Gilbert's partner, Maks Chmerkovskiy — Val's brother — said she was "a little sedated, so she doesn’t know what she’s looking forward to." Gilbert was injured when she appeared to have hit her head during their paso doble Monday.

He said he had injured his arm, but that it "took away from pain in my ankles, knees and shoulders, so it’s all good."
