Michael Keaton Morphs Dylan O’Brien Into a Human Weapon in ‘American Assassin’ Teaser (Video)

Action pic opens September 15

Dylan O’Brien trains to become a dangerous black ops recruit in the teaser trailer for “American Assassin.”

In the preview’s opening moments, counterterrorist operative Mitch Rapp (O’Brien) is seen taking a break on a tropical vacation with his girlfriend, who he’s about to propose to. The vacation ends abruptly when gunmen enter the beach and wreak havoc.

“You gave up everything after that, didn’t you, Mitch?,” he is asked during an interrogation that follows.

“No, not everything,” he responds, and the trailer quickly jumps to clips of Rapp training to become a dangerous human weapon — guns, knives and intense workouts included. Changed by the experience, Rapp transforms into a CIA black ops recruit.

Michael Keaton features in the trailer as Cold War Veteran Stan Hurley (Michael Keaton), who trains Rapp on knife combat.

The film is based on the novel of the same name by the late Vince Flynn, which tells the origin story of Flynn’s long-running protagonist, counterterrorist operative Rapp.

“American Assassin” also stars Sanaa Lathan, Taylor Kitsch, and Shiva Negar. Written by Stephen Schiff and directed by Michael Cuesta, it’s produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Nick Wechsler.

Along with “Assassin,” “Teen Wolf” alum O’Brien is also slated to appear in “Maze Runner: The Death Cure,” which recently resumed filming after O’Brien sustained an injury on set that required hospitalization.

“American Assassin” opens September 15.
