Chelsea Handler’s New ‘Mocku-Series’ to Premiere Sunday

“Chelsea Lately” offshoot will look at “possibly” real backstage life

Chelsea Handler's new sort-of scripted, sort-of not series, "After Lately," will premiere on Sunday at 11 p.m., E! announced on Tuesday.

The "mocku-series," as E! describes it, will provide viewers a look at the people and events behind the scenes of the show. Each episode will feature stories and scenarios that, as the station admits, are "possibly" real, according to E!

Besides employing the personalities of "Chelsea Lately" staffers and cast members, such as her sidekick Chuy Bravo, the series will also feature "a handful of Handler’s big-time celebrity friends, other popular roundtable mainstays and additional staff members … whether they like or not."

The first episode, titled "The List," will revolve around staff members' back-stabbing, groveling efforts to gain a seat on Handler's private jet on a weekend trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, as Handler "basks in the glory" of her in-fighting underlings.

The series is being executive produced by Handler and former "Chelsea Lately" executive producer Tom Brunelle.
