Super Bowl XLVIII earned the game‘s fifth-best overnight rating of all-time, despite Sunday’s contest being the worst blowout since 1993.
The game earned a 47.6 rating, 70 share in the 56 metered markets, according to the very early metric. That number represents a one percent decrease from last year’s 48.1/71 for Ravens vs. 49ers on CBS, and also the lowest in four years, since 2010’s Saints vs. Colts matchup resulted in a 46.4/68.
The Seattle Seahawks trounced the Denver Broncos from opening kickoff to final whistle on Sunday, with the scoreboard reading 43-8 when the game mercifully concluded.

Host market New York City earned a 50.5/70, its best Super Bowl rating since Super Bowl XXI in 1987 (53.4).
The game actually took place in East Rutherford, N.J., at the New York Giants/New York Jets’ shared MetLife Stadium.
